Our Vision
We believe community is something we choose to create. In recent years, isolation, division, and the loss of the “third places” where people once gathered naturally have pulled us farther apart. Yet we still have far more in common than our differences suggest.
At the heart of our vision is a simple principle: love your neighbor. Create opportunities to know one another, care for one another, laugh together, celebrate together, and find common ground.
We can choose what kind of community we want to be. Our future is about choosing connection, compassion, and something bigger than ourselves.
Rebuilding the Third Place
Third places are the spaces outside home and work where people naturally cross paths, become familiar with one another, and form relationships over time. They are where community happens without needing an invitation.
In recent years, many of those routines were interrupted, and some never fully returned. Edenton Commons is one way we are choosing to make gathering part of everyday life again—through events, entertainment, classes, celebrations, casual visits, and shared experiences.
A true third place contributes to meaningful improvements in daily life, including:
- Seeing familiar faces
- Meeting people outside our usual circles
- Creating friendships and shared traditions
- Finding reasons to gather regularly
- Building a stronger sense of belonging
Supporting Small Business
A stronger community also depends on people having opportunities to build, create, and contribute. We want Edenton Commons to make room for local businesses, independent professionals, and entrepreneurs to grow alongside the community they serve.
Preferred Partners
We work with trusted local and regional professionals to create high-quality experiences while keeping more opportunities within the community.
Service Providers
Classes, workshops, and special programming create opportunities for instructors and service-based professionals to share what they do with new audiences.
Entrepreneurs Seeking Community
Pop-ups, collaborations, and shared experiences give entrepreneurs and small businesses more ways to connect with customers, one another, and the wider community.
Simply Have Fun
Not every gathering needs a purpose beyond enjoying the moment. Sometimes community is built through music, laughter, games, dancing, celebrations, and the simple pleasure of being around other people.
We want to create more reasons to get out of the house, try something different, and have a good time together.
